If you knew me you would know that I am one of the most impatient people. Trust me, I know that’s not the best quality to have, but when I want something I tend to want it right now. My husband refers to me as Veruca Salt on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory because “I want it now” is a core phrase in my everyday life. Although this quality lays true, id like to think that I am still not a bad egg like Veruca Salt.
I could go on all day telling you stories of all the things that I wanted right now that I got right then that ended up not being what I want now. I could talk your ear off or write a novel about the impulsive tattoos, jobs, blog posts, and purchases I have made. For your ears and eyes well being I’ll stick to one story, check out my “I want it now” hair journey below for a good laugh and products my hair and I love!
“I Want It Now Hair”
Growing up I had beautiful platinum blonde hair. My parents never let me dye my hair because they said everyone would kill to have natural platinum blonde hair like mine. Well, you guessed it as soon as I went off to college I decided to dye my hair, and not just a shade darker I decided to dye my hair black! I thought it was a great idea until I realized that I had to draw on black eyebrows everyday. It got even worse the more my hair grew out and the more my platinum blonde roots started to show. At that point I started to resemble Pepe Le Pew from Looney Tunes a little too well. I decided then that I was going to dye my hair back to blonde.
With each appointment my hair got a little blonder and a little shorter. By the time I was sporting platinum blonde hair again I couldn’t even run my fingers through my hair with out my ends breaking off. Without even thinking twice I had a new plan. I needed a hairstyle that didn’t require me using heat tools on my hair everyday. A perm I thought, it was the perfect solution to grow my hair out to its original healthy state. So that day I made an appointment to get a body wave perm. Long story short a perm was not a great idea. My hair was so damaged from all of the bleach that the perm literally made my hair fall out! After the screaming, swearing, and throwing of just about anything there was only one thing I could do, chop all my hair off. So that is what I did, I got a short pixie cut. I was so embarrassed so I hid my hair in a hat for months until it was a very short bob. I thought I was to edgy to have a mom bob so I made the same mistake twice and decided to dye my hair dark again! I know, I obviously do not learn from my mistakes the first time. I am sure you can guess what happened next. Yup, exactly what happened the first time. I dyed my hair back to blonde damaged it again and cut it into a pixie again! This time was a little different I decided to enjoy the pixie while I had it, and never dye my hair dark again!
Moral of this story, everyone tends to want what they don’t have. Although It is true that people would kill to have my natural hair color, at the time I wanted to have any other color hair then my own. Now I know through the struggle that physically, and maybe mentally I was not born to have dark hair. Embrace what you have, because other people are going through the same struggle I did to get what you already have.
